Cold Eggs

Day 3 of the SOLSC

I mentioned in my post yesterday that we were staying at a hotel visiting friends. This particular hotel is known for its indoor water park. The place is not cheap. So, when we decided to opt for the breakfast add-on while booking our room, I was expecting a nice, warm, hearty breakfast. Perfect fuel for a few more hours of swimming before we hit the road and return to reality. This was not what we got. We arrived at the restaurant maybe a half hour after it opened and all of the bacon was already gone. There were two other tables with people at them. Where did all the bacon go, and more importantly, why wasn’t it refilled yet? The other options of meat did not look appetizing, but I took some ham. It was tough and chewy. The eggs were cold too.

The continental breakfast at a Holiday Inn was better than this. Disappointing. I was looking forward to a decent breakfast that I did not have to cook. I was hoping for better from a place that charged $3.00 for a 16 oz bottle of milk. I mean the pizza the night before was pretty good, was I really expecting too much of the breakfast? For the price we paid, no I was not.

My kids didn’t really notice because there were sprinkles and and M&Ms next to the pancakes so naturally those were their toppings. That made their day, so I tried to bite my tongue and enjoy the weak coffee all the while dreaming of the Dunkin’ Donuts right around the corner.

  1. OK, I can relate. Breakfast is REALLY the most important meal of the day and it is not FUN when it doesn’t match up to the expectations. Darn! Hope the day improved!

  2. The frustration comes through in your post as you describe what is and is not available. Adding your children’s perspective and the dream of Dunkin Donuts makes for a storng ending!
